Dr. Sherman is well known throughout the field of neuroradiology. He is involved in numerous professional societies; he is a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) and a member of the Association of Clinical Educators in Radiology (ACER), the Association of Program Directors in Radiology (APDR), the Association of University Radiologists (AUR), the American Society of Spine Radiology (ASSR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Society of Emergency Radiology (ASER). In addition, he is a proctor for the ACR Education Center’s neuroradiology courses and serves on the Electronic Communications Committee of the APDR. Dr. Sherman has published and presented approximately 50 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts in such publications as the American Journal of Neuroradiology (AJNR), Stroke, the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR) and Radiographics and at RSNA and Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (SIR) annual meetings.
Dr. Sherman joined NationalRad in 2007. He has had a distinguished career in the United States Military and holds the rank of colonel (select) in the U.S. Air Force (USAF). Dr. Sherman is the assistant director of medical education and diagnostic radiology residency program director for the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC). He has held such positions as chief of neuroradiology at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California and chief of neuroradiology at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Sherman is an assistant professor of radiology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland. He has received numerous awards and honors for his service and work, including the Donahue Research Excellence Award, the Air Force Commendation Medal twice, the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal twice, and the National Defense Service Medal.
